Daniel Kehlmann gained international recognition with Measuring the World and was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize with Tyll. His latest novel, Lichtspiel, once again confirms his unique and bold literary talent.
In Lichtspiel, Kehlmann immerses us in the tumultuous life of G.W. Pabst, the renowned director of Pandora’s Box, starring Louise Brooks. Having fled the Nazi regime, Pabst nevertheless finds himself entangled in the machinations of power, manipulated by Goebbels. This novel offers a profound reflection on the complex relationship between art and power in an era marked by totalitarianism, showing how Pabst loses his way while striving to stay true to his art.
During this evening, Kehlmann will discuss his inspirations and body of work in conversation with Nicky Aerts.
