Günther Orth graduated in Arabic Philology in Erlangen, Germany. Scholarships brought him to Egypt and Syria, followed by a degree in Arabic translation in Leipzig. In his master's thesis and later in his dissertation he wrote about modern prose literature in Syria and Yemen, where he lived. Today he works in Berlin and worldwide as a translator and conference interpreter for Arabic.
