Suhrkamp (founded 1950) and Insel (founded 1899) are an independent publishing group with about 130 employees, five publishing brands and about 400 new publications per year. Suhrkamp focuses on contemporary German-language and international fiction, non-fiction and the humanities and has published more than 20,000 works over the last seven decades, more than half of which are still available.
