Claudia Cabrera has been a German translator for about 30 years. Throughout her career she has translated around 70 books and plays. In recent years, she has be articular the Mexican exile works of Anna Seghers. She has been a resident at the Looren Translators' House and the European College of Translators, as well as a resident, tutor and member of the advisory board of the Banff International Literary Translators Centre. In 2020 she was awarded the Bellas Artes Margarita Michelena Literary Translation Prize for Arnold Zweig's The Axe of Wandsbek. She is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte. She is currently president of the Mexican Association of Literary Translators, of which she is a founding member. en translating German exile literature in Mexico during the Third Reich, in particular the Mexican exile works of Anna Seghers.
