8 grad verlag
Germany's southwest is culture, art, landscape, nature, and indulgence. Resourcefulness and inventiveness define the people of the region - as well as their stories. In 2021, physician and publisher Matthias Grueb founded the 8 grad verlag to provide a home for these stories. History, literature, politics, society, and nature, thematic diversity should determine the publishing program from the outset, always keeping in mind: the land and its people along the eponymous 8th meridian. Alongside classics, you'll find nearly forgotten or yet unknown voices, literary works, titles on regional studies and cultural history, travel books, books on indulgence and landscape.
We publish books that are not only aesthetically pleasing and well-crafted but also intellectually relevant and inspiring. Each book is carefully curated, showcasing the diversity and richness of the Southwest and its neighbours, whose influence and exchange over the centuries have shaped the land. Independence to us means the freedom to focus on the needs and interests of our readers and to address a broad range of topics, for people in Southwest Germany and beyond. Independent, regional, and cosmopolitan. Since 2023, we have been a member of the Kurt Wolff Foundation for the promotion of a diverse publishing and literary scene.
