Yuri Andrukhovych is one of the most significant writers on the contemporary literary scene in Ukraine. He is a writer of prose, poetry and essays, as well as a translator. His works have been translated into 22 languages and published in Poland, Germany, Canada, Hungary, Finland, Croatia, USA, Sweden, Spain, among others. He is also one of the founders of the literary group Bu-Ba-Bu, which focuses on post-modernism in his country.
He has been awarded the Herder Prize (2001), the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize (2005) and the Central European Literary Award Angelus (2006). His work Twelve Rings ( Acantilado, 2007) was awarded the European Rapprochement Prize in 2006.
The predominant themes of his work include Central and Eastern Europe, politics, society and national identity.
