Rowohlt Berlin

Rowohlt Berlin Verlag was founded in the turbulent autumn of 1990, shortly after reunification. After almost half a century, Rowohlt was thus consciously continuing its capital city tradition.
The ‘Berlin traits’, as Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt understood them, are an obligation for the programme: ‘liveliness, openness and liberality’. The programme focuses on contemporary German literature and literature from Eastern Europe as well as political, historical and narrative non-fiction; established authors and themes are fruitfully mixed with new voices and ideas.
