Antoine Wauters (born in Belgium in 1981) is the award-winning author of a dozen stories and novels. He hit the big time in 2021 with Mahmoud ou la montée des eaux. Unanimously acclaimed and translated into some fifteen countries, the book won the Marguerite Duras Prize, the Wepler Prize and, on 6 June 2022, the Prix du Livre Inter, just a few weeks after winning the Prix Goncourt for short stories for Le Musée des contradictions, a collection of politically committed texts published by Editions du sous-sol in March 2022. Antoine Wauters won the Prix Rossel 2023 for his story Le plus court chemin. His next novel is due to be published by Gallimard.
