Jacques Steiwer studied philosophy and literature at the Sorbonne, where he was taught by professors such as Paul Ricœur, Jean Wahl and Vladimir Jankélévitch. After obtaining a doctorate in philosophy in Luxembourg, he taught at the European School in Brussels I. He then directed the European School in Varese, Italy, and then Brussels III. Jacques Steiwer is a politically committed philosopher, having worked with the Marxist theorist Ernest Mandel at the ULB's Institut de Sociologie. He is the author of numerous publications.
