Véronique Sels is a Belgian author who writes in French. From childhood, she has been passionate about classical ballet and contemporary dance. After high school, she graduated from the Jacques Dalcroze Rhythmic Institute and traveled, practicing and teaching modern and classical dance as well as Laban creative dance, a method of notation and choreographic creation. At 35, she discovered the advertising industry and became a copywriter. Her campaigns won numerous awards, with the most notable ones focusing on HIV prevention, human rights, and aid for the homeless. In 2011, the narrator of her first novel, La tentation du pont, was published by Genèse Editions. With her second novel, Bienvenue en Norlande (2012, Genèse Editions), Véronique Sels presents a world halfway between Gattaca and the lush pastures of Luxembourg. In Voyage de noces avec ma mère, she takes us on a journey through 1980s America, with its taste for improbable situations, irreverence, and a light, humorous style, which had already become the hallmark of her previous works.
