Lukas Bärfuss, Koala
A reading and discussion with the author about his novel Koala. He reflects on his brother's suicide in the book, taking the reader on a captivating journey into his inner self and into the history of this phenomenon in society. For this literary achievement, Lukas Bärfuss was awarded the Swiss Literature Prize (2014) as well as the Georg Büchner Prize (2019), the most important literary prize for German-language literature.
Tereza Semotamová, the translator of Koala into Czech, will also participate in the conversation. The discussion will be moderated by Jan Trna from Masaryk University Faculty of Philosophy in Brno. He has long occupied himself with the literary work of Lukas Bärfuss.
The reading and subsequent discussion with the author will be held in German and translated into Czech (live interpretation).
